Margretta Thompson's Obituary
Margretta Marie Thompson, daughter of I.D. and Beulah Forbes Cowley, was born July 22, 1937, in Steele, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, July 19, 2008, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of seventy years, eleven months and twenty-seven days. On November 28, 1981, in Camdenton, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Farrell Dean Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a step-son, Daniel Thompson. Survivors include her loving husband, Farrell Thompson of the home; four sons, Tony Adams and wife Kathy of Camdenton, Missouri, David Adams of Solidad, California, Lewis Adams and wife Pia of Germany, and Chris Thompson and wife Robin of Camdenton, Missouri; a daughter, Margretta Schwartz of Camdenton, Missouri; two step-sons, Joe Thompson and wife Cathy of Stover, Missouri, and Steve Thompson and wife and Bridget of Eldon, Missouri; two step-daughters, Verma Dugan and husband Dennis of Brumley, Missouri, and Belinda Thompson of Eldon, Missouri; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Martha Meridith of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Theresa Meinhardt and husband Mike of Dittmer, Missouri, Esther Oaks of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Nita Johnson and husband Willis of Imboden, Arkansas; and a host of loved ones and many friends. She was raised in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and attended school there. In 1965, she moved to Piedmont, Missouri then later to Akron, Ohio. She moved to High Ridge, Missouri where she lived for eighteen years. After a short time living in California, she moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. She was a mother and a homemaker most of all, having raised eleven children. She was also a waitress at Howard Johnson’s and later Shoney’s. Gretta made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Heart of People Church in Camdenton. In her spare time she enjoyed ceramics and flower gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. She left many wonderful memories for her family and friends to cherish. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday,July 22, 2008, in the Allee- Holman- Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hermann City Cemetery, Hermann, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5-7:00 P.M. Under the direction opf the Allee- Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
