Maria Wallace (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Maria DelCarmen, age 71, of Fair Play Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Mercy Hospital, in Springfield Missouri.
Maria was born March 7, 1946, in Autlin de Navarro, state of Jalisco, Mexico, to Jose Maria Hernandez, and Maria Dela Paz Hinojosa. She grew up in Mexico, attending school there, but achieved her GED in Coachella, California, on March 26, 1982.
Maria then joined the United States Army Reserve, and began taking advanced medical courses with the AMEDD Officers. She obtained her LPN Diploma in May 1988, and her RN Diploma in December of 1988. In 1996 she began working as a Nurse Education Officer, and served in Washington, Arizona, Texas, and Florida, as well as Mission Service in Paraguay, Panama, and Germany-Iraq war patients. Maria attained the rank of Major class four before being honorably discharged on October 31, 2008.
On July 26, 2006, Maria was baptized onto Christ, at the church of Christ in Brookline, Missouri.
She was a life time member of the Reserve Officers Association, and the American Military Surgeons of the USA, and was also a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses, Girl Scouts Association, and Public Health Nursing Association of Arkansas.
Maria married Robert L. Wallace on June 22, 2005. They had twelve wonderful years together and Robert was always by her side, taking care of Maria.
Maria is preceded in death by her father, Jose Maria Hernandez; mother Maria Dela Paz Hinjosa; step-mother, Margarita C. Hernandez; sister, Batriez Hernandez; brother, Enrique Hernandez; brother, Antonio Hernandez.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Wallace, of the home; son, William Betz, of Arkansas; daughter, Darlene Treat, of Arkansas; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Luz Jiminez, of Mexico; sister, Bertha Waggoner, of California; brother, Jose Guadalupe Hernandez, of California; brother Miguel Hernandez of California; step-sisters, Martha, Blanca Robies, Marie de Jesus Montes, Maria del Rosario Guillen; step-brother, Robert; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Local visitation will be held between 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Butler Funeral Home, in Bolivar Missouri.
A visitation will be held in Clinton, Arkansas between 5:00- 9:00 p.m., Sunday March 19, 2017, at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, March 20, 2017, at the Choctaw church of Christ, in Choctaw Arkansas with burial to follow at the Weaver Cemetery, on Banner Mountain, near Shirley, Arkansas.
