Marian Patricia Slack (Seymour)'s Obituary
Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Marian Slack peacefully departed this life Monday evening, December 14, 2020, at her home in Rogersville with her daughters, Stephanie and Deborah, at her side.
One of two children, she was born Marian Patricia Young in High Prairie, Webster County, Missouri, on April 20, 1937, to Kenneth Donovan and Ruth Nadine (Payton) Young. She attended Seymour schools until her senior year when the Youngs moved west to Wichita where Marian would graduate.
She married her high school sweetheart, Maurice Slack, on June 10, 1955, had two daughters whom she adored and was very happy being a dedicated stay-at-home mom. Having a husband in the Air Force, the family moved multiple times, including living several years in Germany where good memories of car races were made. Camping was always a favorite outing, and while living in Nevada, trips to Lake Mead to water and jet-ski were always fun. After many years, Marian retired from bank telling from the First National Bank in Las Vegas in 1997. It was then she moved back to the Seymour area to care for her mother and family.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, Evan Slack. Marian leaves behind two heartbroken daughters, Stephanie Murphy and husband, Patrick, of Logan, Iowa, and Deborah Hook and husband, Jim, of McCammon, Idaho; a granddaughter, Heidi Gagnon and husband, Drew, a great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Murphy, and her four-pawed grandbabies; her brother, Don Young and his wife, Dianne, of Lawrence, Kansas; sister-in-law, Barsha Batson and husband, Bill, of Marshfield, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Kenny and Toni Young, David and Cindy Young, Dawn and Mike Wilson, Sherri Batson, Susan Metcalf, and Brian Batson; many dear friends and neighbors. Marian lived for her family. She loved them fiercely and they treasured her. She will be sadly missed and forever lovingly remembered as The Best Mom Ever.
Private burial in Liberty Cemetery will follow visitation.
