Marie Pursley (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Marie Elizabeth Pursley, age 94, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at her daughter’s home, in Polk, Missouri.
Marie was born on December 27, 1923, in rural Polk County, near Rondo, to Fred and Maggie (Watt) Sanders. She grew up in the area and attended school there. In March of 1941 Marie married Phillip Eugene Pursley. To this union, of 59 years, three daughters were born.
Marie was a homemaker. She was very faithful to her family, and commented that she was proud of her daughters, but blessed to have three wonderful sons in law. She was also a loving pet owner, having many small dogs through the years.
She was a charter member of the First Assembly of God Church, in Bolivar, and would drive her little sports cars to church every Sunday, which she continued to do, by herself, into her 90s. She always had the T.V. tuned to a Christian station. She read her Bible daily, and when she became unable, family read to her. Marie greatly enjoyed taking trips to Branson with Phillip. Other trips she made were to Brenda’s Café, and Dairy Queen to get her Blizzards.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Maggie; a sister, Vinnie Bridges; husband, Phillip Pursley; and her daughter, and son in law, Phyllis and David Davis.
Survivors include two daughters, Dixie Hitchcock, and husband Danny, and Freddie Moore, and husband Larry; grandchildren, Sharon Coon, and husband Gary, Vickie Ross, and husband Danny, Lorna Batten, and husband Jim, Tony Hitchcock, and wife Jackie, Glenda Vote, and husband Roger, Carol Burns, and husband Dennis, and Terry Moore, and wife Lisa, Josh Moore, and Adam Moore; 22 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
