Marie Welte's Obituary
Verdie Marie Welte, daughter of Timothy and Edna Jones Weatherford, was born April 14, 1918, in Beach Creek, Kentucky. She departed this life Monday, December 7, 2009, in her home, in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, seven months and twenty-three days. She was united in marriage to Frank August Welte and to this union four children were born. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Frank Welte; and three brothers, Tim, J.T. and Virgil. Survivors include her children, Tim Welte and wife Linda of Palmyra, Illinois, Susan Hammond and husband John of Camdenton, Missouri and Norman Welte and wife Jan of Tokyo, Japan; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Brown of Seattle, Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was raised in Kentucky and later moved to Carlinville, Illinois. After her marriage to Frank, they made their home in Palmyra, Illinois, where she was a day care provider for many years. After Frank’s death, she moved to Camdenton with her daughter. Marie made a profession of faith and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Osage Beach, Missouri, and had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard, Illinois. Earlier in life, she was active in the P.T.A. and involved in many school projects. She had been a member of the Home Extension and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, doing crafts and reading. She loved flowers and gardening. Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services and burial will be hels at 2:15 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra, Illinois under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Fumeral Home Camdenton, Missouri. Return to top
