Marilyn J Massey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Marilyn J. Massey, daughter of John and Hope Brynt Calhoon, was born March 19, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She departed this life Friday, September 28, 2018, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, six months, and nine days.
On January 29, 1999, she was united in marriage to George Clinton Massey, and they shared the last nineteen years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Daniel Massey; three brothers, Johnny, Bobby, and Jimmy Calhoon; and a sister, Hope.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, George, of the home; two daughters, Michaele Deckard, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Rita Hall, and her husband, Troy, of Lynchburg, Missouri; two sons, Clinton Massey, and his wife, Angela, of Salem, Missouri, and Bland Massey, and his wife, Diana, of Ellington, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Nick Candler, Mike Deckard, Laree Deckard, Travis Hall, Trenton Hall, Zane Massey, and his wife, Kassie, Beau Massey, Elijah Massey, and Alex Massey; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Glenna Godwin, and her husband, Jerry, of Novato, California, and Donna Straub, and her husband, Joe, of Truckee, California; a number of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Linda Randolph, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Marion County, California, where she graduated from high school. After she and George were married, they made their home in the Lebanon, Missouri area. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Marilyn also worked as a comptroller for Independent Stave Company for several years.
Marilyn professed her faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime active member of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church of God, and had served as secretary for a number of years. She loved her church family dearly and enjoyed the fellowship they offered her.
In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing and collecting junk. She had a fondness for her home which she lovingly called “Misty Hollow”. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
