Marilyn Sagar (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Marilyn Joyce Sagar, 88, passed away, December 31, 2018 at Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar.
Marilyn was born January 18, 1930 at Centerburg, Ohio to Eunice Elizabeth (Beard) and Charles Lodge Stout. Then in high school, she moved with her family to Phoenix, Arizona where she graduated from Glendale High in 1948. On June 26th of that year she married her brother's best friend, Charles Edward Sagar. The newlyweds had a brief stint in Oregon 'cowboying', but spent most of their early married years in Arizona. They eventually went back to Ohio where both had been born, farming and keeping a dairy for many years. Marilyn bore five children and worked with Charles in all the responsibilities of keeping a farm and home. She loved gardening and perfecting her skills in raising vegetables and flowers. In 1972 they moved to Minnesota where they again dairied. ln 1975 they relocated once again to Dunnegan, Missouri, and this became their permanent home. The couple built a custom berm house, and Marilyn spent every summer 'taming the woods'- creating beautiful gardens.
She became an active member of Dunnegan Baptist Bible Church, considering it her second home. She spent many years there teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. As the years went by Marilyn and Charles enjoyed traveling together, practicing their hobbies, visiting family and friends and welcoming many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marilyn was a Watercolor artist and a member of the Polk Co. Art Association from 1989-2007. She took her work to many shows and enjoyed the comradery of fellow artist. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James Stout and Terrv Stout and her husband Charles. She is survived by her five children, Edward (Donna) Sagar of Osceola, Roger (Jane) Sagar of Cardington, Ohio, Bryan (Cindy) Sagar of Dunnegan, Mo, Angela Sagar and Elaine (Wade) Andersen, both of Newcastle, Wyoming, and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-greats.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2018 at Butler Funeral Home, Humansville, Missouri.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2018 at Dunnegan Bible Baptist Church, in Dunnegan, Missouri. Burial to follow at Dunnegan Cemetery, Dunnegan, Missouri.
A memorial has been established to the church.
