Marion Delora Philpott (Seymour)'s Obituary
Marion Delora Philpott, daughter of William Gordon and Hazel Ethel (Bowers) Philpott was born August 5, 1922, near Seymour in Webster County, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, November 1, 2010, in Webco Manor in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, two months, and twenty-six days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Philpott; and a brother-in-law, Howard Burleson.
Marion is survived by a sister, Emogene Burleson, of Marshfield, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Thelma Philpott, of Ava, Missouri; a niece, June Burks and her husband, Eddie, of Fordland, Missouri; four nephews, Mike Burleson and his wife, Tina, of Marshfield, Missouri, Eddie Philpott and his wife, Jan, of Mansfield, Missouri, Bill Philpott and his wife, Terri, of Ava, Missouri, and Rick Philpott and his wife, Rona, of Willow Valley, Arizona; a number of great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was born near Seymour and lived in Colorado for several years where she attended Las Animas County High School and played basketball with the Hoehne Unit of the school. The family moved back to Seymour where she became a member of the Seymour School Volleyball Team and graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1941. Following graduation, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked at the Colgate-Palmolive Company for 35 years before her retirement. She then moved to Marshfield, Missouri, to be near her sister, Emogene, and her family.
Marion had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of the Chandler Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri, and recently attended the Church of the Nazarene in Marshfield.
In her spare time she enjoyed traveling and camping, fishing, gardening, and reading. She had learned to play the guitar and harmonica and liked to entertain her family and friends.
Marion was a loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great-aunt, and was a kind and loving friend and neighbor. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will forever cherish the memories she made for all who knew and loved her.
