Marissa Nicole Collins (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Marissa Nicole Collins, age 22, of Louisburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully October 5, 2019. She was born on September 18, 1997, in St. Louis, Missouri to Teresa and Kenneth Collins.
Marissa, who we all called Missy, was one of the most loving and compassionate people anyone knew. She had a heart so big and a smile so beautiful, she lit up any room she entered.
Missy loved being with her friends and her family, enjoying the outdoors, and going to the lake. She enjoyed doing your hair and makeup, even if it really wasn't your thing. She would spend hours doing absolutely anything and everything she could to make you laugh, smile, or see the light in any bad situation.
The relationship Missy has with Justin Casados and Matthew Varela was unbreakable. You might as well call them her brothers. She would go to bat for either one of them, no questions asked. Throughout their entire childhood there was never a time you could've separated them. Like any relationship between siblings or relatives, they picked on each other often, and in the most comical ways. Missy and Justin spent many days outside playing together. One snowy afternoon, Justin had just gotten new glasses and they were playing outside. Missy had made a snowball, and to Justin's surprise, had buried a rock inside. She hurdled the snowball straight for Justin and it connected with his face, breaking his brand-new glasses. This was likely upsetting then but makes us all laugh as we remember it now.
Missy had many friends, but none as close or as strong as her best friend Ashley. Many would dream of having a bond that strong. If you couldn't get a hold of one, you could call the other and one would always answer. Missy and Ashley always had a way of bringing one another to tears, always from too much laughter. It was always funny hearing one or the other say, "Is that my shirt???" or whatever article of clothing they'd have on. They were always sharing clothes.
Marissa taught many of us that life can be over in the blink of an eye and that tomorrow is never promised. But the beautiful irony is that our loss is another’s reunion until we all meet again.
Marissa was preceded in death by Vern Collins, JR Bailey, and Kenneth Ray Collins. She is survived by her son, Elijah, her mother, Teresa Collins, her grandmothers Velma Roark and Rosemary Collins, her brother, Joshua Collins, Justin Casados and Matthew Varela who might as well have been her brothers, cousins Greg Fox, Arthur Voss, Jesse Voss, Jason Cousins, Stacey Higgins, Janice Rabe, Diane Rabe, Bailey Frish, and Justin Frish, and her aunts Linda Cousins, Anna Voss, Brenda Fox, Cindy Rabe, and Patty Frish.
Serveces are under the care and direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
