Marjorie Davis' Obituary
Marjorie Louise Davis, daughter of Ben Arthur and Ethel Minnie Renner Hicks, was born January 27, 1927, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, March 6, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, one month, and nine days. On September 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to Francis M. Davis, and together they shared thirty-five years before his passing on March 26, 1995. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter, Misty Wood; two brothers, Ancil and Oris Hicks; and three sisters, Grace Dinwiddie, Helen Hicks, and Violet Blankenship. Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Ethel Wood, and her husband, David, and Jane Henderson, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Ben Henderson, and his wife, Barbara, of Lebanon, Missouri; a stepson, Bill Davis, and his wife, Sally, of New Bloomfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Edna Hicks, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She lived her entire life in the Lebanon area and was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother to her children. For several years, she worked outside of the home as a cook and dishwasher in the Camdenton and Lebanon areas. Marjorie had made her profession of belief in Christ and followed the Freewill Baptist faith. She had attended the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, reading, watching television cooking shows, collecting trinkets, and listening to music, particularly bluegrass music. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Marjorie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the North Liberty Cemetery, near Lebanon, Mo. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
