She earned her cosmetology license and began working as a beautician. Darlene and Robert returned to Lebanon and lovingly raised their family. Darlene continued working and opened her own beauty shop, Heads N’ Nails in downtown Lebanon. She was a very skilled beautician and was highly respected in her field. Her career in cosmetology spanned thirty-seven years before she retired. In 2012, she and Robert moved to Harrisonville, Missouri.
She and Robert had traveled extensively throughout the United States. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, reading, and coloring in adult coloring books. She also liked growing beautiful flowers in her yard. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
