Marjorie Speer (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Majorie A. Speer was born on March 24, 1935 in Congress Park Illinois. She attended Lyons Township High School in La Grange. During this time she worked at the Brookfield Zoo and was part of the Civil Air Patrol. From there, she worked at Reynolds Metals. Shortly after, Marjorie married Frank Speer on September 11, 1954. They had three sons, Frank, Roy, and Robert. While the boys were growing up, Marjorie worked at Elmhurst College. Marjorie then later worked at Walmart for 10 years and made many friends before she retired with her husband Frank.
Marjorie later went back to work for Walmart before finally retiring again. She then started her volunteer work for the Bolivar Police Department, where later she was hired on part time. Marjorie worked there until she retired permanently after 10 years.
Marjorie has always been a volunteer in her community. She belonged to many organizations, including Cub Scouts, Paint-A-Thon, Bolivar Shop with a Cop, Local Red Hats, Quilting Club, Lucky 13, Sewing Club, and also spent some of her time fostering dogs. Most recently she volunteered at The House of Hope resale shop. In her free time, she made prayer shawls and Quilts of Honor for the veterans. Marjorie was a loving and caring person and she will be deeply missed by everyone she touched.
Services for Marjorie will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 22, 2022 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Visitation will be held the night before from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
