Mark M. Segebarth (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Mark M. Segebarth, son of Louis A. and Laura M. Bierman Segebarth, was born July 26, 1934, in Waterloo, Iowa. He departed this life Sunday, October 22, 2017, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, two months, and twenty-seven days.
On January 20, 1956, he was united in marriage to Ruby Joy Westendorf, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Wilbert, Vic, Willis, Louie, Duane Segebarth, and an infant; and a sister, Mildred Lichty.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Ruby, of the home; a daughter, Wendy Reece, and her husband, C.M., of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Brad Segebarth, and his wife, Stacy, of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Lindsay, Whitney, Carson, Addison, Haven, and Selah; one great-grandchild, Linkin, and one eagerly anticipated; a sister, Maxine Lehmkuhl, of Dresden, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Carol Kent, of Sumner, Iowa, and Connie Barrett, of Fort Collins, Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa, and graduated from East Waterloo High School. He then attended Stout University in Menomonie, Wisconsin where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education. After he and Ruby were married, they lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and in Kansas City, Missouri for several years. They then lived in Saudi Arabia where Mark was the Director of Vocational Schools for T.W.A. during the 1970’s. The family moved to Lebanon in 1976, and purchased Leslie’s Dairy Serve which they operated for a few years. In 1983, Mark and Ruby purchased and began operating Page Printing in downtown Lebanon. The business is now owned and operated by their daughter, Wendy.
Mark was a longtime active member of First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Lebanon and was currently serving as treasurer.
He was a charter member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge #2557, where he was a Past Exalted Ruler. He had also served as treasurer of the Missouri Elks Association and was chairman of the Missouri Elks Scholarship Program for many years. He was a past president of the Lebanon Concert Association and the Arts Council of Lebanon. He had also belonged to the Lebanon Lions Club. In his spare time he played Bridge and Pinochle, and enjoyed playing many other games with his family. He also liked working crossword puzzles, and loved to travel. Through the years, Mark and Ruby had traveled to Alaska, Europe and Africa, and took a cruise around the Southern tip of South America. He hosted the original Segebarth family reunion that has become an annual event for the last thirty-four years. His family was very important to him.
Mark was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-three years.
A memorial has been established to the Segebarth Scholarship Fund
at Lebanon High School.
