Marlene B. Sykes (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Marlene B. Sykes, daughter of the late Ozwald and Pauline (Vehar) Brubacher, was born on March 15, 1934 in Baltimore, MD and departed this life on May 4, 2025 in Buffalo, MO. At the time of her passing she was 91 years, one month, and 18 days of age.
Marlene was united in marriage to Ray Sykes in 1977. She was a hard worker and loved being generous to her friends and family. She was always kind, loved to talk with everyone, and was always looking for ways she could help others. She had a small family but was always loved and cared for by her extra family, the Sutton’s, and her long-time friend, Donna Wilson. Marlene spent many holidays and every Thursday night dinner at the Sutton’s, they helped her get to all of her appointments, and took care of any need she had. She enjoyed watching her hummingbirds and cardinals feed out her window.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; one brother; one sister; and one stepdaughter. She is survived by one stepdaughter; two grandsons; one granddaughter; her extra family; and friend, Donna Wilson. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo with Pastor Mark Elliott officiating. Escorts will be Gerald Sutton, Steve Sutton, Charles Wilson, Jason Whipple, Jacob Wilson, and Tyler Sutton. Interment will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Calvary Chapel Freewill Baptist Church or the Convoy of Hope.
