Martha Pauline Black (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Martha Pauline Black, age 93, passed on the evening of December 23, 2021 at her home in Springfield, Missouri. Her daughter, Deborah J Lower and son-in-law Stanley Herman were at her side.
She was the widow of Richard Lower who passed away February 13, 1971.
They were married 22 years at the time of Dick's death.
Martha was born in Williamsville, Missouri on February 14, 1928 to Burt and Gladys Mitchell. She spent her early years in the foster care of Chris and Dottie Sias.
She was a member of the first Christian Church of Bolivar, Missouri where Chris Sias was the minister.
Martha enjoyed regularly playing bingo at VFW Post 3404. She also regularly won!
Martha was universally known for her kind, giving, and gentile nature. She was always willing to help others.
She was preceded in death by both her parents Bert and Gladys Mitchell, her brother Vernon Mitchell, husband Richard E. (Dick) Lower, and son Michael Ray Lower. She was also preceded by her husband William Black.
Martha is survived by her daughter Deborah J. Lower and son-in law Stanley Herman both of Colorado Springs, Colorado and brother Raymond Sias of Fair Grove, Missouri. Other close family includes Randi and Mike Hesslink, Stacy and Jared Hannafin and their sons Kenneth, Maverick, and Gus all of Springfield, Mo.
Funeral services for Martha will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri.
Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar.
