Martha Sue Garretson (Humansville)'s Obituary
Sue Garretson was born in Humansville, MO on May 21, 1935, and died on May 21, 2017. Sue was the youngest of seven children born to Samuel David and Mary Louise (Purdin) Anderson.
Sue married Allan Garretson on August 1st, 1954, and to this union three children were born; Edwin Garretson of Humansville, MO, Judy Weaver and husband Wes of Humansville, MO, and John Dale Garretson and wife Cindy of Springfield, MO, as well as seven grandchildren; Aaron, Stephanie, Lucas, Sarah, Eric, Jeffrey, and Vanessa, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Sue was saved at a young age and was very active in the Church and a follower of Christ. Sue’s mission in life was to minister to people about Christ and through her mission led several people to follow the Lord. Sue’s service to her community didn’t end there. She was also an active member in the town she spent most of her life in. Sue was one of the first woman business owners in Humansville. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and at one point held the title of Chamber President. Sue served as a municipal judge, as well as serving on the Fall Festival planning committee. Sue was named the Business Woman of the year in 2015. Sue was always on the go, whether it be to a good yard sale or taking off on a whim for a weekend with Allan.
Sue is preceded in death by the love of her life, Allan, as well as her parents, David and Mary, and her brother Rolla Anderson.
Sue is survived by her three children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her five sisters; Phillis, Eugenia, Virginia, Irene, and Marcene, as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 6:30-8 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Humansville, MO. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Humansville, MO. Graveside services will follow at Humansville Cemetery.
