Martin Crowell (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Martin Lloyd Crowell, son of Howard M. and Barbara Newcomb Crowell, was born May 6, 1958, in Evansville, Indiana. He departed this life Friday, June 9, 2017, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years, one month, and four days.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his wife, Dana Crowell.
Martin is survived by two daughters, Samantha Crowell, and her significant other, Matt, and Madelyn Evans, and her husband, Josh, all of St. Louis, Missouri; two step-daughters, Renee Benson, of Bland, Missouri, and Robin Abbott, of the State of Michigan; a grandson, Lukas Evans; his mother, Barbara Crowell, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Karla Nelson, of Lebanon, Missouri; a special nephew, Justin Potter, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in South St. Louis County and graduated from Oakville High School, in Oakville, Missouri. He worked as an insurance salesman for a few years, and then entered the military when he was 32 years old. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army as a Red Beret for several years. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he made his home in Potosi, Missouri, where he lived as a mountain man and was a buffalo farmer. Later, he made his home near Belle, Missouri, where he was a cattle farmer. He also worked for the AMF Billiards and Games Company for a number of years. He met and married Dana during those years, and then moved to Lebanon about one and a half years ago to be near his mother and sister. He soon started having health issues but remained strong and tough. He had a fondness for animals, was a gun lover, and loved rock and roll music, especially his favorite bands, Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, and Black Sabbath. When he spoke, people listened and he would quietly stand his ground. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandson.
Martin was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Private services will be conducted at a later date with burial in Liberty Cemetery near Belle, Missouri. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
