Martin Johnson (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Martin Lee Johnson, son of Darrell Todd and Wanda Fae Miller Johnson, was born October 17, 1957 in Lincoln, Nebraska and departed this life on July 31, 2014 at his home in Springfield, Missouri at the age of fifty-six years, nine months and fourteen days.
On February 14, 1997 he was united in marriage to Shirley Maddox and they have shared the last seventeen years together.
He was preceded in death by his father, uncle, Jerry Johnson, niece, Holly Johnson, two aunts, Debbie Johnson and Pat Johnson.
Martin is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; three sons, Joshua Johnson of Republic, Missouri, Joseph Johnson and Jacob Johnson both of Springfield, Missouri; two step-daughters, Tammy Gettle of Crane, Missouri and Jennifer Allen and her husband, Kory of Tennessee; step-son, Tracy Martin of Sparta, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Wanda Fuller of Marshfield, Missouri; sister, Linda “Sis” Caldwell and her husband, Russell of Marshfield, Missouri; two brothers, Mark Johnson and his wife, Vicki of Springfield, Missouri and B.J. Johnson and his wife, Kathy of Galena, Missouri; two uncles, Jess Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska and Brook Johnson of Macomb, Missouri, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
He was born in Lincoln and raised in the Mansfield area before moving to Springfield where he drove a truck for many years. He was a very proud member of the Teamsters Union Local 245 in Springfield, he had a very good friend there named Harvey Ritter.
Martin loved his family and was always glad when everyone could get together. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing with his lifelong best friend Michael Wilson, using his BBQ grill and smoker or just hanging out in his back yard.
Martin was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will always cherish the many good times we had together.
