Martin Luther Pickens (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Martin Luther Pickens was born January 8, 1943 near Camdenton, Missouri, in the Kaiser community, to James M. Pickens and Hester Leffert Pickens. He passed away in Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the age of eighty-one years, seven months and twenty days.
Martin was raised in Camden and Laclede Counties. Following his high school days, he went to Louisiana, Missouri where he was employed at Louisiana Manufacturing Company. He made his home in Bowling Green, Missouri and lived there for many years before retiring in 2011 to Lebanon, Missouri.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Martha.
He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Pickens of Bowling Green, Missouri, Ellen Corum and her husband Ed of Mount Ayr, Iowa; his son, Mason Pickens and his wife Lisa of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christina Kissinger and her husband Kyle, Seth Elliott, E.J. Corum and Charles Corum; and two great grandchildren, Kyra Kissinger and Jenna Kissinger; his brothers, Jim Pickens and his wife Bonnie of Lebanon, Missouri, and Joe Pickens of the state of Arizona.
Martin was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. He loved the Lord with all his heart and enjoyed serving there.
Some of his favorite times included going to Bennett Spring State Park and going fishing. He was a longtime fisherman and went fishing whenever possible. He also loved watching old classic shows on television.
Most of all, he loved his family. They were central in his life and he was very proud of them. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them.
Funeral service for Martin Pickens will be Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Myetta Cemetery.
A memorial has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
