Martin Satterfield's Obituary
Martin Dean Satterfield, son of Martin James and Josie Alberta McDowell Satterfield, was born April 27, 1934, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, April 25, 2009, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years, eleven months, and twenty-eight days. On July 14, 1979, in Lebanon, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Linda Carolle Clay, and they shared the last twenty-nine years. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alvin, Stanley, and Lowell Satterfield; and three sisters, Opal Weddle, Thelma Meeth, and Alene Anderson. Dean is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of the home; his children, David Satterfield, of Lebanon, Missouri, Carolyn Satterfield, of Nevada, Missouri, Danny Satterfield, and his wife, Brenda, of Grovespring, Missouri, Dennis Satterfield, and his wife, Jenny, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Deana Pederson, and her husband, Lonnie, of Lebanon, Missouri, Brad Buttram, and his wife, Brenda, of Conway, Missouri, Brian Buttram, Amy Price, and Alison Good, and her husband, Steve, all of Lebanon, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Michelle Satterfield, Cassie Satterfield, Trevin Satterfield, Logan Schmidt, Austin Giggs, Andrew Giggs, Kendra Buttram, Jason Buttram, Brittany Pepper, Christopher Price, Samantha Price, Alex Good, and Elijah Wilbanks; two great-grandchildren, Kaidynce and Addalynne Buttram; two sisters, Joyce York, and her husband, Glenn, and Willene Donigan, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Lebanon, Missouri. He then moved to Kansas City, where he worked for the Reed Oven Company installing ovens across most of the fifty United States. In 1973, he returned to Lebanon and started Dean’s Midway Shell Station at the Stoutland exit on I-44. Then, in 1981, he founded Town & Country Plumbing which he operated until retiring in 2008. Dean was primary charter member #53 of the Lebanon Elks Lodge # 2557 and had held several offices within the lodge during the years. He had also been named Elk of the Year in 1982-1983. He belonged to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge # 192 in Lebanon, and the Lebanon Moose Lodge #753. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching his children mow the grass, and visiting and drinking coffee with his friends at Bell Restaurant. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will remember him as a devoted family man, a dedicated businessman, and a good friend to many. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday April 26, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Two Memorials have been established one is to St. Johns Hospice 100 Hospital Dr. Lebanon, Mo. 65536 or to The Lebanon Elks Building Fund 25111 Pecos Dr. Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
