Martina A. Mitchell (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Martina Mitchell was born to Walter Robert Regenbrecht, Sr. and Helen Grace (Hurst) Regenbrecht on July 21, 1942 in Independence, Missouri. She attended school in Independence and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1960. She later worked at Sears where she met the love of her life, James Doyle Mitchell. To this union five children were born; Carrie, Glen, Renee, Richard and Sarah.
She was saved as a teenager in a small church in Independence. While sitting with her friends the Lord drew her to the altar. As she stepped out of the pew and was walking to the front of the church the light shining through the north window made her to know the Lord had graciously saved her soul. The family moved to the Sentinel area in 1970. While attending a revival meeting in Springfield she was drawn back to the Lord. She joined Sentinel Missionary Baptist Church, was baptized and was a member at the time of her death. On Wednesday June 28, 2023 at the age of 80 after a long illness she went to be with the Lord.
Martina had different jobs during her lifetime but was happiest being a homemaker, gardening and watching her flowers grow. One of her greatest joys was having her children and grandchildren together. In quiet times she enjoyed sitting on the porch, reading and watching the birds.
She is preceded in death by her father Walter; mother Helen; brother, Walter (Bub) Jr.; sister, Trudy; brothers-in- law, JT Mitchell, Travis Mitchell, Dick Mitchell, Bunk Blankenship, Don Whitmeyer, Donald Jones and Larry Mullinax.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James; her children; Carrie and husband Kris Turpin, Glen and wife Josie, Renee and husband Jeff Shelenhamer, Richard and wife Christy, Sarah and husband Chris Reynolds; twelve grandchildren, Stephen Turpin, Jordan Turpin, Tina and husband Erik Milan, Brittaney and husband George Carr, Garret Shelenhamer, Clayton Mitchell, Ethan Reynolds, Emily and husband Levi Richards and Erica Reynolds; six great-grandchildren, Chevelle, Brayden and Kaden Turpin, Lyric, Harmony and Cadence Payton. Her sister Vicki Briauca, sisters-in-law; Linda Regenbrecht, Okla Martin, Anita Whitmeyer, Becky Mullinax, Reba Howe, brothers-in-law; Melvin Gosnell, Landon Mitchell, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
