Marvin Huston Boring
Marvin Huston Boring, son of Orville and Lucille (Lockhart) Boring, was born January 18, 1933, in Seymour, Missouri. He departed this life on February 2, 2013 in Glenwood Healthcare, Seymour, Missouri at the age of eighty years and fifteen days.
On August 11, 1953 he was united in marriage to Donna Jean Shaver and to this union one daughter was born.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister Rosealee Virginia; and two brothers James Alan and Orville Eugene.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Donna Jean of the home; his daughter Theresa Marvene Boness and husband Todd of Ava, Missouri; his grandson, Matthew Steven Grant of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother Wilbur Boring and wife Peggy of Seymour, Missouri; his sisters, Juanita Findley, Elwanda Rennaker, Deanna Fehrenbach all of Seymour, Missouri and JoEllen Smith and husband Jerry of Washington, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other dear family and friends.
A lifelong resident of Seymour, Marvin attended Davis School until the 8th grade. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955, including a tour of duty in South Korea. A dairy farmer all his life, Marvin enjoyed working the land. He took pride in sharing his passion for farming, helping numerous young men get their start. Marvin almost never missed an opportunity to ride in the Apple Festival Parade, with his last ride in the 2012 parade.
Marvin loved horses; he had a very successful horse show career passing on this love to his daughter. Leaving behind wonderful memories of the time they spent together. He enjoyed hunting of all kinds, especially fox and coon, and often shared stories of quail hunting in the early part of his life. Marvin appreciated the simple things of life, and found happiness sharing his love for God’s creation with his family and friends.
He made his profession of faith on November 7, 1965 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Roy Cantrell. He lived out his faith as a devoted husband, good father and a caring neighbor and friend. He always was there to lend a helping hand, giving advice and equipment to others seeking nothing in return.
Marvin Huston Boring leaves a legacy of hard work, faithfulness and unconditional love to those who knew him. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories he created for those he loved.
Services for Marvin Boring will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 10 am in the First Baptist Church of Seymour. Burial with full military honors will follow at Seymour Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Holman Howe Funeral Homes of Seymour. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 pm Monday, February 4, 2013.
