Marvin Cook's Obituary
Marvin Eugene Cook, son of Chester Loren and Lorain. Dameron Cook, was born July 17, 1937 in Richland, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, four months, and twenty-two days. On January 20, 1957, Marvin was united in marriage to Barbara Sue Mosier and to this union three children were born. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sue Cook, of the home; his daughter, Cindy Turnage and husband Aaron, of Lee?s Summit, Missouri; two sons, Craig Cook and wife Missy, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Joe Cook of Lebanon, Missouri; four brothers, David Cook and wife Joyce, of Lebanon, Missouri, Delbert Cook and wife Phyllis, of Grovespring, Missouri; Kenneth Cook and wife Linda, of Aurora, Missouri, and Dan Cook and wife Vicky, of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Linda Huxhold and husband Dale, of Woodstock, Georgia; four grandchildren, Lucas Mawhirter, Justin Mawhirter, Patton Cook, and Harrison Cook; a great-granddaughter, Callie Mawhirter; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Marvin spent his younger years in the Lebanon area and was a graduate of Lebanon High School. Following graduation, Marvin joined the United States Naval Air Corps and served his country with pride. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Air Corps, Marvin took a job as a computer technician for IBM and moved to Kansas City, Kansas and in 1967 his job took him to Independence, Missouri. Following his retirement from IBM, Marvin moved back to Lebanon to make his home. Marvin had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Lebanon, where he also served the church as a Trustee. Marvin was an avid golfer and was a member of the Lebanon Country Club. He also enjoyed working at the church, and loved helping those in need. Marvin was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his many accomplishments and will treasure the many memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
