Marvin Lavern Bailey's Obituary
Marvin Lavern Bailey, son of Ernest and Mary Anderson Bailey, was born March 10, 1930, in Brady, Nebraska. He departed this life Friday, August 25, 2006, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, five months, and fifteen days. On May 25, 1952, he was united in marriage to Leona Floella Watson and to this union six children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents. Marvin is survived by his wife, Leona, of the home; four sons, Stewart Bailey and his wife, Susan, and Stanley Bailey and his wife, Tammie, all of Conway, Missouri, Scott Bailey and his wife, Rhodonda, of Urbana, Missouri, and Steven Bailey and his wife, Linda, of Gainesville, Texas; two daughters, Sharon Morton and her husband, Bruce, of Katy, Texas, and Suzann Briggs and her husband, Kurtis, of Cheyenne, Wyoming; twenty-one grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Russell Bailey and his wife, Carolyn, of Manhattan, Kansas, Donald Bailey and his wife, Virginia, of North Platte, Nebraska, and Orrin Bailey and his wife, Janice, of the State of Arizona; one sister, Jean Max and her husband, Earl, of Brady, Nebraska; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in Brady, Nebraska and grew up in Nebraska and Iowa. He entered the U.S. Army as a young man, serving two years and seeing duty in Korea. He became an airplane mechanic and continued to serve his country faithfully for twenty-eight years in the Army National Guard. He and Leona made their home in the Conway, Missouri area. Marvin was a member of South Highway Five Church of Christ where he had been an elder since 1970. He loved cowboys, horses, and all things Western, and was a fan of John Wayne. In his spare time he loved playing Dominoes and was a member of a Domino club. Anyone who knew him experienced his sense of humor and teasing as well as his generosity. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2006, in the South Highway Five Church of Christ. Burial will be in Veteran's Park at Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 4 - 5:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
