Marvin was born on September 23, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas to the late William Baskim and Cordia Magnalen (Brylery) Lilleston. Marvin was the youngest child of 17 of a blended family. After High School, he worked for several different companies including Merkl Buick for a few years. Marvin began his lifelong career in law enforcement as a deputy with the Wyandotte County Sheriffs dept and concluded his career as the director of loss prevention with Cosintino’s Price Chopper Stores in the Kansas City area. Marvin enjoyed raising chickens and tomatoes, he loved feeding the wild birds in the winter. Marvin was a hard worker; he loved working and showing others the importance of a strong worth ethic.
He worked for Price Chopper for over 30 years. Where many of his stories came to life captivating his listeners. More importantly he met his future wife going to court on shoplifting cases. He first saw her while in court for she too worked in Loss Prevention for Osco drugs. He soon hired her to come to work for Price Chopper. They then began dating and later were married on May 22, 1986. The two enjoyed saying to others yes, he was the boss at work but tread lightly she’s the boss at home.
They enjoyed having their family over for dinners on Sundays and holidays. Their hobbies were raising chickens and horses. They enjoyed going on trial rides, meeting and making new friends. Both enjoyed gardening together.
Two weeks prior of Marvin’s passing he and Carlene had joined Bethal Assembly of God in Hermitage. Their members are very welcoming, it made them want to come back for more. Marvin loved listening to gospel music and Bethal’s music drew him closer to God. He really like Pastor Allen Sunday’s sermons.
