He departed this life Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, eight months, and five days. On December 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Juanita Jean Slane, and together they shared twenty-four years before her passing on October 18, 1982. He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jimmy, Donny, Carl, and Jerry; and four sisters, Gale, Ellen, Lou, and Betty. Marvin is survived by three sons, Arthur Leland Pollock, and his wife, Teresa, of Claremore, Oklahoma, Tommy Eugene Foster, of Falcon, Missouri, and Marvin Neil Pollock, of Carrolton, Georgia; six grandchildren, Renee Jemes, and her husband, Dwayne, Kayla Johnson, and her husband, Jeremy, Marvin Charles Foster, and his wife, Tonya, Brad Kirkland, and his wife, Brandie, Melissa Berard, and her husband, Casey, and Kimberly Pollock; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kristen, Kristal, Kristopher, Kaden, Brandie, Charotte, Tiffany, Kaityrn, Dalton, Cameron, Dylon, Wyatt, and Colton; a brother, Lawrence Pollock, of Racine, Wisconsin; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Wisconsin, and then joined the C. C. Camp as a young man. He entered the United States Navy in 1943, and served his country faithfully during World War II. He was part of the Asiatic Pacific Theater and arrived in Hiroshima, Japan just a few days after the bombing. Upon receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1945, he returned to Wisconsin where he worked as a lumberjack. He moved to Oklahoma where he worked in the oil fields for awhile before opening a hobby shop. The family moved back to Wisconsin, and Marvin owned and operated a service station and garage for several years. He became a certified welder with the Bucyrus-Erie Company, and then worked for the Kenosha Auto Transport Company. He eventually retired as a maintenance supervisor for the Massey-Ferguson Company. In 1980, he and Juanita moved to Falcon, Missouri and made their retirement home. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with small engines and was sort of a pack rat as far as machines were concerned. He was a trusting person, who took people for what they said they were. He liked working in his garden and also enjoyed playing the harmonica. Marvin also knew lots of area children that he loved and thought of as his grandchildren. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marvin was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered as a loving family man, a dedicated worker, and a patriotic citizen and friend. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in Oilton, Oklahoma.
