Marvin Gene Tate (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Marvin Eugene "Gene" Tate, 94, of Bolivar, went to his heavenly home on September 10, 2024. Born to Dewey and Lula Tate, Gene grew up around the Urbana area, where he attended school and graduated. At an early age, he found his faith, was baptized, and became a devoted member of Pleasant Ridge Freewill Baptist Church in Urbana, MO.
Gene married Alice Greer, and together they were blessed with two sons, Gary and Jim. They made their home in Bolivar, where Gene worked as the parts man at Vestal Equipment for over 30 years, while also pursuing his passion for farming. Gene enjoyed fishing and gardening, but above all, he cherished attending church and revivals with Alice. He will be remembered for his deep faith, love for his family, and commitment to his community.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Lula Tate; siblings, Lawrence Tate, Bill Tate, and Loma Pitts; his loving wife of 74 years, Alice Tate; and his son, Gary Tate.
He is survived by his son, Jim Tate, and wife, Tammi, of Bolivar; granddaughter, Missy, and husband, Emmett Smith, of Quincy, MO; grandson, Isaac Tate, and wife, Crissy, of Springfield, MO; and two great-grandsons, Kody and Colton, along with many nieces and nephews.
Gene had a kind and giving spirit and will be greatly missed.
