Marvin Young,'s Obituary
Marvin "Dean" Young, son of Joe Albert and Anna Agnes Owens Young, was born November 30,1940 in Seymour, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, July 24,2011 in Cox South Hospital, at the age of seventy years, seven months, and twenty-four days. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Marvin Dean Young, Jr. and a brother Don Young. Dean is survived by his wife Evelyn Young of the home; his sons, Greg Young and Jamie Young and wife Liana all of Seymour, Missouri; ten grandchildren: Alisha, Maggie, Melissa, Joshua Alan, Shelly, Tamera, Aaron, Blake, Ashley, Libby and several great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bill Young and wife Jan of West Plains, Missouri; Denzil Young and wife Sharon of Seymour, Missouri; Ronald Young of Texarkana, Arkansas; and Stanley Young and wife Sandy of Seymour, Missouri; two sisters, Louise Trapp and Judy Hill and husband Tom all of Seymour, Missouri; a life-long friend Walter Cantrell of Seymour, Missouri along with several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of family and friends. He was born and raised in the Seymour community and spent his younger years walking the hills with family and friends. Dean faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and returned to the Seymour area to start his family. He united in marriage to Evelyn Marie Bowers on February 18,1972 and together they shared near forty years of marriage. Throughout his life, Dean honed his skill as a maintenance technician retiring from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in 1995. Moving back to the Seymour area, he then went to work with Copeland where he was instrumental in developing the Ava division, retiring from there in 2003. Dean had made his profession of belief in Christ and was baptized into the Pentecostal Church in 1977. He spent countless hours of laughter and love with his family and friends. Dean enjoyed hunting the Ozark hills and fishing the area lakes and streams. Singing karaoke with his wife, chidren and grandchildren created treasured memories for all. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, passing on the family history, and talking about the "good ole' days". Dean was a loving husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but the wonderful memories he created for his family and friends will live on foreverFuneral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be in the Liberty Cemetery, North of Seymour. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home at PO Box 366, Seymour, Missouri 65746. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour.
