Mary M Becker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Mary Magdalene Becker, daughter of Orville Jefferson and Della Melmay Eilenstein Jones, was born April 12, 1936, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, March 26, 2018, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, eleven months, and fourteen days.
On May 15, 1954, she was united in marriage to Charles Russell Becker, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell, on July 24, 1985; a son, Paul Russell Becker; a son-in-law, Leo McBride; and two brothers, Paul Dean Jones and John David Jones.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Nancy McBride, of Nixa, Missouri; two sons, Robert Becker, and his wife, Heather, and Jimmy Becker, and his wife, Katie, all of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Maryana, Zane, and Creed; six brothers, Lee Jones, of Garden City, Kansas, Jerry Jones, and Dennis Jones, both of Lebanon, Missouri, Stanley Jones, of Hartville, Missouri, Lloyd Jones, of Richland, Missouri, and Tommy Jones, of Copan, Oklahoma; four sisters, Martha Becker, of Richland, Missouri, Ruth VanGenderen, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Bonnie Jones, of Ozark, Missouri, and Ellen Wright, of Cassville, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon area, and had to quit school in the eighth grade to help provide for her family. After she and Russell were married, they made their home in Kansas City, Kansas, and lovingly raised their children. In order to finish her education, Mary attended high school at the same time as Nancy, and they loved and laughed about doing homework together. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Mary worked as a seamstress at the Swingster Corporation for several years, and then was a cook at a daycare center. In 1985, after Russell’s passing, she moved back to Lebanon and worked for the H. D. Lee Company for a number of years. She later worked for Ozark Mountain Kids and Norman’s Jewelry and Bridal Shoppe doing alterations.
Mary made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life at a Freewill Baptist Church and was currently a member of Community Baptist Church near Lebanon.
She enjoyed listening to gospel music singers and loved attending the Brumley Sings each year. She loved to travel and particularly enjoyed going to Silver Dollar City as often as possible. She liked quilting and had made numerous quilts which she shared with her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed following her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-one years.
Memorial contributions to Gideon Ministries, may be made through the funeral home.
