Mary Brazeal's Obituary
Mary Christeen Brazeal, daughter of Tom and Sarah Rebecca Peters Mackey was born June 23, 1916 in Wright County, Missouri and departed this life February 10, 2009 in Mark Twain Manor in Bridgeton, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years, seven months and seventeen days. She was united in marriage to Carlis Newton and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. She was preceded in death by her husband Carlis, her parents, a sister Jewel Moles, and a brother Mose Mackey. Christeen is survived by two sons, Clarence Newton and his wife, Lois, of St. Charles, Missouri, Carl Gene Newton and his wife, Eleanor, of Kearney, Missouri; one daughter, Wanda Taylor and her husband, Russell, of Eureka, California; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends. She was raised on a farm in Wright County between Mansfield and Seymour. She worked for five years in the old Mansfield Hospital as well as working at the dime store in Mansfield for 3 years. Being a homemaker and raising her family on the farm was her greatest joy. After Carlis passed away in October 1977, she was united in marriage to Robert Brazeal in 1978. Christeen has made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Seymour Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She lived all of her life in Wright County until moving to St. Charles ten years ago to live with her son. In her spare time she enjoyed textile painting, cooking for her family, gardening and gospel singing. Christeen was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and many accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has made for her family and friends. Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday February 14, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Mansfiled. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
