Mary Sue Cassett (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mary Sue “Susie” Cassett, age 84, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on July 10, 2025. She was born on January 1, 1941, in Arkansas, but always said Texas was her true home. She was raised just outside of McKinney, Texas, and held a deep love for the outdoors that stayed with her throughout her life. From a young age, Susie enjoyed riding ponies and horses—often recalling fond memories of racing her mother and proudly winning. She had a passion for fishing, hunting, and camping, especially with her husband Bill. Together, they spent many happy times camping in Wyoming, where they fished and enjoyed watching wildlife, particularly the buffalo. Susie had a unique collection of billfolds, travel mugs, bingo supplies, and handheld computer games she loved to play. She was an avid bingo player and a proud member of the DAV Auxiliary. She met the love of her life, Bill Cassett, in 1987 at a café in Humansville. The two were married on July 30, 1989, and shared a deep and loving bond for over three decades. Susie is survived by her husband, Bill Cassett; her son, Joe Cannon; daughter, Susan Lawn; stepdaughters, Carolyn Broker and Samantha Rusek; stepson, John Cassett; several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Katherine McPhail. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Moore. Susie will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of nature, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
