Mary Chastain (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Mary Ellean Chastain, daughter of James H. and Bessie Hildebrand Dibben, was born June 5, 1925, near Brice, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, December 12, 2011, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, six months, and seven days.
On September 27, 1939, she was united in marriage to Claude Lee Chastain, and to this union one daughter and five sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude, on November 17, 1995; three brothers, Norman, Lloyd, and Grover; and two sisters, Zella Mae, and Evelyn.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Sherry Chastain, of Lebanon, Missouri; five sons, Paul Chastain, and his wife, Willa, Gary Chastain, and his wife, Delores, Jerry Chastain, and his wife, Nancy, Tommy Chastain, and his wife, Shirley, and Rickey Chastain, all of Lebanon, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Zola Grove, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Brice community, near Bennett Spring. After she and Claude were married, they made their home in the same area and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Mary was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Mary was saved at the age of fifteen and joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Later, she transferred her membership to Flatwoods Bible Church. Her faith was always at the center of her life, and she read her Bible every night.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, fishing and camping. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a very caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
