Mary Collins' Obituary
Mary Jane Collins, daughter of Cecil Glen and Celeste Young Collins was born June 4, 1936 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. She departed this life Friday, April 2, 2010 in Marshfield Care Center in Marshfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-three years, nine months, and twenty-nine days.
She was preceded in death by both her parents.
Mary Jane is survived by her three daughters, Mary Sue Burr, and Vanessa Owens and her husband, Randy, all of Fordland, Missouri, and Deanna Brake and her husband, Toney, of Niangua, Missouri; four grandchildren, Janelle Heavin and her husband, Brad, of Keokuk, Iowa, Robert Dickson and his wife, Amanda, of Andover, Kansas, Sarah Bahnmiller and her husband, Jason, of Seymour, Missouri, and Samantha Brake, of Niangua, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joy Gibson and her husband, Marvin, of Ozark, Missouri and Lana Moore and her husband, Kenneth, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma and moved to Fordland, Missouri as a child. She had served as Clerk for the City of Fordland and was School Crossing Guard for Fordland Schools for several years.
Mary Jane had made her profession of faith in God and was a member of the Fordland Church of Christ. She was also a member of Seymour Chapter 144 Order of the Eastern Star and the Webster County Extension Club. She loved serving people and her community, from the time when she helped in the family grocery store, to being city clerk, and to serving as committee-woman with the Webster County Republican Committee.
In her spare time she liked to grow vegetables and other produce to can and to cook for her family and friends. She enjoyed doing different sewing projects and loved to sing. She was very interested in helping and volunteering for different community projects.
Mary Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories she created for all those who loved her.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m., Tueday, April 6, 2010 in Fordland Cemetery with Adam Orr officiating under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Mo. Visitation will 6-8 p.m., Monday in the funeral home. The casket will be closed at all times.
