Mary Lou Coutts (Urbana)'s Obituary
On October 14, 2017, we lost our most beloved, Mary Lou Coutts. She was born May 8, 1936 on the family farm in Rosendale, MO where she grew up and graduated high school. She was active in various school functions, and enjoyed playing sports such as girls basketball and volleyball. After high school she attended nursing school at St. Joseph Missouri Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, earned her degree as a Registered Nurse, and practiced for 40 years mostly in the field of Obstetrics. She has always had a special love for babies, and has been the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother due to her caring, nurturing disposition. She married William Coutts, husband of 34 years and they have been happily enjoying their years together traveling in their camper all over the country. They have made many dear friends in the camper club, “King of the Road”, had many fun times dancing, eating, playing games and dressing up. She loved living life to the fullest, meeting people and having new experiences.
When she was raising a family of four children, she gardened, canned, sewed and was an excellent homemaker. She was the best wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her loving, tenderness and compassion has touched all who knew her and her physical presence will be sadly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Win and Bertha McDonald; brothers, Richard, William and Robert McDonald; sister, Betty Jane (McDonald) Holmes; grandson, Joshua Moore; and sons-in-law, Karl Meredith and Kevin Simonton. She is survived by her loving husband, William Coutts; son, Dr. Tony Vore and wife, Patricia; daughter, Michele Meredith; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Arnold Belasco; daughter, Tamara Simonton; daughter, Angela Vore; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
