Mary Davis (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Mary Edith Davis, daughter of Oliver and Cora Noland Gage, was born January 24, 1927, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. She departed this life Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, three months, and five days.
Early in her life she was united in marriage to Bill Jennings, who preceded her in death.
On September 9, 1988, she married William Cromer “Bill” Davis, who passed away on February 22, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jimmy and Clarence Gage; and four sisters, Ottie Whittaker, Alma Stowe, Alfie Marks, and Elvie Myers.
Mary is survived by two step-daughters, Teresa Ayers, and her husband, Rob, of Sedalia, Missouri, and Sandi Willis, and her husband, Arlie, of Smithton, Missouri; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three special friends, Susan Jones, Alice Scheets, and Alice Schultz, all of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Phillipsburg community, and graduated from Phillipsburg High School. After she married, she and Bill made their home in the Lebanon area. Mary was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also worked as a nurses’ aide for Breech Medical Center in Lebanon for over twenty years.
Mary had professed her faith in Christ and was an active member of Union Mission Church. She had served as a nursery attendant at the church for twenty-five years and loved caring for the children.
She enjoyed babysitting in her home when she had time. She was a very friendly person who never met a stranger, and enjoyed visiting with her many friends.
Mary’s faith in God was central in her life and she dearly loved her family and her church family. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be made to the Union MIssion Church and left at the funeral home.
