Mary Doublin's Obituary
Mary Alice Doublin, daughter of Thomas C. and Maude Mae Huckabee Jones, was born April 23, 1930, near Falcon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, eleven months, and twenty-nine days. On November 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Archie Franklin Doublin, and to this union three daughters and three sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie, on January 21, 2003; four brothers, Lonnie, Fred, Herbert, and Chester Jones; and two sisters, Inez Jones, and Lori Beal. Mary is survived by three daughters, Edna Vorhees, of Lebanon, Missouri, Judy McGrath, of Gainesville, Florida, and Velma Swindell, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three sons, Frank Doublin, and his wife, Jane, of Lebanon, Missouri, Kenneth Doublin, and his wife, Kathy, of Nixa, Missouri, and Keith Doublin, and his wife, Joyann, of Forsythe, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her twin brother, Marion Jones, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Clara Bell, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Lucille Cox, of Kansas City, Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Falcon and Competition communities. After she and Archie were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Mary also worked at Ozark Café, Wyota Inn Restaurant, Dove Senior Citizen Home, and the Walnut Bowl Store through the years. Mary professed her faith in Christ and had attended the Oasis Worship Center in Lebanon. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed working puzzles, doing embroidery work, and going to and having garage and rummage sales. She had a fondness for music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday April 26, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery Near Falcon. Visitation is Sunday afternoon 4-5:30 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Laclede Industries Sheltered Workshop.
