Mary Dunn (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Mary Sue (Long) Dunn, daughter of George A. and Trudy Louise Rush Long, was born April 7, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas. She departed this life Thursday, September 13, 2018, in her home, near Phillipsburg, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, five months, and six days.
On December 17, 1954, in Lubbock, Texas, she was united in marriage to Andrew Wayne Dunn and to this union one son was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne, on May 8, 2010; and a sister, Bettye Waldrip.
Mary is survived by a son, Randy Dunn, and his wife, Tanya, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; three grandsons, Shaun Dunn, Brent Dunn, and his wife, Hailey, and Kyle Dunn, all of Lebanon, Missouri; five great-grandsons, Hayden, Maddox, Bentley, Winston, and Colton; a brother, Don Long, and his wife, Margaret, of Montague, Texas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from high school there. She then attended Lubbock Christian College. She worked for Merchants Motor Freight and then for Texas Technical University. In 1970, the family moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where Mary worked as the operations supervisor at New Mexico State University for twenty-five years. After retiring from the University, she worked for Del Valle Physical Therapy as a medical transcriptionist for twenty years, retiring in 2012. She was also a devoted homemaker to her husband and son throughout the years. Mary later made her home near Phillipsburg, Missouri, and enjoyed her retirement years.
Mary had attended Lebanon Family Church.
She was a founding member of the Lebanon Pound Pullers. She enjoyed spending weekends at the Lake, reading, playing on social media, and liked dirt track racing. Two of her greatest joys were to love and spoil her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
A Celebration of life will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16th at the family home near Phillipsburg, Missouri.
Memorial donations to Lebanon Pound Pullers may be made through the funeral home.
