Mary E. Findley Mathews (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Mary Ellen Mathews, daughter of Kingsley Carson Findley and Della Mae Smith Findley, was born March 26, 1930, on the family farm north of Mansfield, Missouri, and departed this life on June 18, 2011, in Rocky Ridge Manor near Mansfield at the age of eighty-one years, two months and twenty-two days.
She was united in marriage to Anthony J. “Tony” Mathews and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1993.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Hubert, Robert, K.C. and Linn Findley; one sister, Ruth Shaddy and her husband Earl; one nephew, Jimmy Shaddy; and a sister-in-law, Sue Findley.
Mary is survived by two sons, Michael Ethridge and his wife, Brucell, and Patrick Etheridge and his wife, Carol, all of Carson City, Nevada; four grandchildren, Mathew, Lisa, Kimberly and April; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Skipworth and her husband, Percy, of Rogersville, Missouri; one brother Paul Findley of Mansfield, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Alice Findley of Mansfield, Missouri; as well as several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was raised between Mansfield and Hartville and moved with her family to California at the age of 14.  She later married and moved to Carson City, Nevada, where she and Tony operated a cab service for many years before moving back to the Mansfield area in 1971.  She worked at GE in Springfield for 15 years before retiring.
Mary had made her profession of faith in Christ and had attended the Mansfield Nazarene Church before her health failed.
In her spare time she enjoyed watching birds and listening to Gospel music.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend.  We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories and laughter we shared with her.
