Mary Jane Elliott (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mary Jane Elliott, age 87, of Polk, Missouri, died Monday, June 29, 2026, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar. She was born to Frank and Blanche (Walden) Payne on the 16th day of January 1939, near Polk, Missouri. She was saved at the age of thirteen at Goodson Missionary Baptist Church. In 1958, she married the love of her life, Wayne Elliott. After living in South Carolina and Chicago, while Wayne finished up his Air Force career and school, they moved to Santa Maria, California, where Wayne was hired by Lockheed. While there, their two children, Susan and Gregory, were born. In 1972, Wayne was hired by Lockheed in Sunnyvale, California, which prompted a move to nearby Fremont, where they spent their years until retirement. It is at this point that they followed their dream back to Missouri, where they lived out the rest of their lives on the land previously owned by Mary's father. Mary enjoyed family, sewing, ceramics and porcelain, and home projects. Wayne preceded her in death on April 1, 2020, but she is survived by her daughter, Susan J (Elliott) Goodwin (David) and son, Gregory W. Elliott (Malinda). She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Kathryn J Goodwin, Richard W. Goodwin, Leah (Elliott) Bosch, and Owen Elliott. She also leaves four great-grandsons, Tyler Stoffel, David Krause, and Gabriel and Benjamin Goodwin. A graveside service for Mary will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Payne Cemetery in Polk, Missouri. Visitation for Mary will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, starting at 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
