Mary Viola Etter (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mary Tipton Etter was born on January 6, 1930, to Milton and Hazel Lohmeyer Tipton in St. Louis, MO. She passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2022.
When she was a teenager, Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. In her last years she enjoyed being a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Bolivar, MO.
During her first year of college at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO she met and married Guy Etter on July 29, 1948. She supported Guy in his ministry. The last church he pastored was First Baptist Church, Weaubleau, MO. They were married for 62 years and were blessed with five children.
In the early seventies she returned to college at Missouri Southern to complete a degree in Elementary Education. She taught at many schools throughout Missouri. She retired from her final position as a Second-Grade teacher in Collins, MO. Although she lived in many towns in Missouri, she always considered herself a St. Louis girl.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Hazel Tipton; her husband, Guy Etter; her daughter, Joyce Etter; and her brothers, Don Tipton and Melvin Tipton. Mary is survived by her children, David (Terresa) Etter of Williamsburg, KY, Rebecca (Marion) Diesel of Bolivar, MO, Martha (Bruce) Postel of Raytown, MO, and Paul (Jeanne) Etter of Robinson, TX. She is also survived by her siblings, Lillian Roslawski of St. Claire, MO, Ed (Carole) Tipton of St. Charles, MO, Bill (Carol) Tipton of Silver Springs, MD, and Daniel (LaVohn) Tipton of King George, VA. Mary is survived by 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Services for Mary will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.
Burial will take place in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM
