Mary Ruth Greenhaw (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mary Ruth Kimes Greenhaw, Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully December 13, 2016.
A service celebrating Mary’s life will be at 1:00 pm Monday, December 19th at Colonial Church, 7039 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208 with a visitation to follow. Interment and graveside service will be at 11:30 am Tuesday, December 20th at the Humansville Cemetery in Humansville, MO with Rev. Kerry Skidmore officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Colonial Church are requested where Mary was a long time member.
Mary was married to her beloved husband, Joe E. Greenhaw for 67 years who preceding her in death November 30, 2011. Mary was born August 19, 1922 in Humansville, MO, the third of four children of Travis Jefferson and Celia Em Kimes. Both parents and her brother Travis Jefferson (T.J.) Kimes, Jr. preceded her in death.
Mary is survived by her beloved sister Norrine Kimes Talley and devoted brother Robert Taylor Kimes, her loving daughter Nancy Em Greenhaw and son Joe E. Greenhaw, Jr. ( Nancy B.), two granddaughters, Maria and Allison, six great-granddaughters, Destiny, Ahonesty, Aamori, Kalilah, Reagan, Peyton, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Mary was a gentle, kind, caring person and educator who dearly loved her family, friends and students, leaving a wonderful legacy by example of significance and virtues. Mary devoted her time to family, friends, church, and her gift of teaching; completing her BA-Elementary Education at Avila University and MA-Teaching at Webster University, Mary’s teaching extended well into her 70s.
We would like to thank all her family and friends, and her Colonial family for their love and support. Special thanks and heart felt gratitude goes to Vicki Caldwell for her loving caregiving and unwavering friendship and devotion to both our parents. Thanks also to Avalon Care Hospice; Sandy, Patty, Marilyn, Marshelle, Cheryl W and Griswold Home Care, Jamie, for their wonderful services.
