Mary Hansen's Obituary
Mary Alice Hansen was born October 20, 1927, in Chelsea, Oklahoma. She departed this life Thursday, January 22, 2009, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, three months, and two days. In 1946, she was united in marriage to Delmar Hansen, and together they shared forty years before his passing in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Nellie Ada Harrell and Frank Hall; and three sisters, Linda Kay Murray, Bethel Santos, and Louise Wiggins. Mary is survived by a brother, Jimmy Harrell, and his wife, Mary Sue, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a dear friend that was like a daughter to Mary, Joyce Huckaby, and her husband, Kelly, and their children, Nicole, Austin, and Brady, all of Conway, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Oklahoma, and attended McIntosh School in Chelsea, Oklahoma. During her early years, she was awarded the American Legion Award for Outstanding Students in 1937. After receiving her education, Mary moved to California where she found work in a greenhouse nursery for a few years. It was during this time that she met Delmar and they were soon married. For the next twenty-five years, they made their home in various locations in the United States and Europe while Del served in the United States Air Force and then in the C.I.A. They eventually made their home in Manassas, Virginia, where Mary worked as a buyer for the Leggitt Department Store. Later, they moved to Conway, Missouri, where they lived for several years. Following Del’s passing in 1986, Mary moved into Lebanon and made her home. Mary had made her profession of faith in Christ and followed the Pentecostal faith. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, especially in her later years, and was an avid reader. Because of her love of reading, she was a frequent visitor to the Lebanon Laclede County Library. Mary will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and friends. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday January 24, 2009 at Holman-Howe Funeral Home.Visitation to follow service. Burial and Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday January 26, 2009 at Chelsea Cemetery in Oklahoma. Return to top
