Mary Evelyn Hooper, daughter of Paul K. and Evelyn N. Darden LeDuke, was born December 21, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee. She departed this life Thursday, September 3, 2009, in her home, in Urbana, Missouri, at the age of sixty years, eight months, and twenty-two days. On April 14, 1976, she was united in marriage to John Wallace Hooper, and they shared twenty-three years before his passing on August 12, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her father and a sister-in-law, Alberta Mae Holt. Mary is survived by a son, Jim Vinson, of Albany, Georgia; her mother, Evelyn D. LeDuke, of Jacksonville, Florida; three brothers-in-law, Paul Hooper, and his wife, Mischelle, of Urbana, Missouri, and their three daughters, Elizabeth Trujillo, Charity Hooper, both of Urbana, Missouri, and Natalie Day, of Springfield, Missouri, Rodney Hooper, and his family, of Urbana, Missouri, and Ronald Hooper, and his family, of Newport News, Virginia; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Tennessee and then moved to Jacksonville, Florida, when she was sixteen years old. After living in Florida for ten years, she made her home in various locations before moving to Lebanon, Missouri. While she and John were living in Lebanon, in addition to being a devoted homemaker, Mary also worked in the housekeeping department at Munger Moss Motel for a few years. Later, after John’s passing, Mary moved to Urbana and made her home. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and doing craft projects. She liked animals and was especially close to her pet dog, “Tootie”, which she dearly loved. Mary was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:00pm at the Mission Ridge Cemetery Urbana, Missouri under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
