Mary Hughes (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mary Jane Hughes, 87, Humansville, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020, at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO.
Mary was born December 16, 1932, to Alva and Zepha Martin Rima in Saint Clair County near Collins, Missouri.
Mary worked her way through college working at Head Start and graduated from Drury University. In 1979 she began her teaching career at Humansville Elementary School, teaching 4th Grade, a Hunter Safety Class, and involving students in Wildlife Education. She retired from teaching in 1990 after 21 years.
On December 31, 1982, Mary was united in marriage to Herold E. Hughes. Together they shared their love for farm life near Green Springs in Cedar County. Mary loved the wildlife and farm animals, especially her chickens.
Mary spent many years helping her community with the fall festival. She attended Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by infant son John Roger Rummel; her parents; Husband Herald; Brothers Jim and Nelson (Hap) Rima, and Sister Rosa Piper.
She is survivors by her daughter, Donna Ballinger and husband Loren; grandchildren Brandon Rummel, Cassie and Jamie Ballinger; four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Mary will be missed by all.
Graveside service for Mary will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Brush Creek Cemetery.
