Mary Jackson's Obituary
Mary Lee Jackson, daughter of D.N. and Ethel Irene Copeland Mobley, was born February 1, 1946 in Seymour, Texas. She departed this life Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in the Cooper County Memorial Hospital, Boonville, Missouri, at the age of sixty-six years, two months, and twenty-three days.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Orval Prater and Bill Jackson and a brother, Charles Newton Mobley.
She is survived by her children, Luther Dale Lancaster and wife Karin of Tampa, Florida, Selyna Lancaster-Williams and husband Johnny, Sr., of Raytown, Missouri, and Leonard Lancaster and wife Cynthia of Hartville, Missouri; grandchildren, Stormy Lancaster, Josephina Lancaster, JaLissa Williams, Johnny Williams, Jr., Summer Williams, Aleasha Lancaster, Gary Lancaster, Dalton Lancaster, and Lynette Biggers; great-grandchildren, Aiden Lancaster, Kaiden Lancaster, and Laura Beth Biggers; her siblings, Della Mobley of Norwood, Missouri, Arthur Mobley and wife Shirley of Marshfield, Missouri, Shirley Coday and husband Darrell of Mansfield, Missouri, Carolyn Moore and husband Jimmy of Hartville, Missouri, Danny Mobley and wife Phyllis of Marshfield, Missouri, and Melody Caswell and husband Lyle, of Seymour, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Mary spent her younger years living in Texas and New Mexico, graduating from Melrose High School, Melrose, New Mexico. She married Jay Lancaster and they moved to Rock Island, Illinois at the age of eighteen and worked for the Mayor of Rock Island. Upon leaving Rock Island, Mary
moved to Hartville, with her children, to be closer to her family. She then moved to Lebanon, where she met Orval Prater. Following Orval’s death, Mary returned to Hartville, where she meet and married Bill Jackson, to make their home. She worked as a seamstress at H.D. Lee for many years and eventually retired from there, but continued to work at Tracker Marine until retirement age.
Mary accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in 1961 in Myrtle, Texas.
Mary was a member of TOPS as well as the Red Hat Society for many years and was active in those groups until her passing. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her azalea bush. Mary studied her family’s genealogy extensively and had traced her roots back to their beginning. She enjoyed reconnecting with her past and sharing with her family. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting, and made many beautiful quilts for her family and friends.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the many beautiful memories she has created for her family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Sat. Apr 28, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 pm Fri evening.
