Mary Jane Worley (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Mary Jane Worley, daughter of Thomas Julian and Susan Jane Barnes Price, was born March 17, 1932, near Belle, in Maries County, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, October 12, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, six months, and twenty-five days.
On November 25, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ivan Claiborne “Jack” Worley, and they shared forty-four years before his passing on April 19, 1997.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Helen Mizer, and Edith Beck.
Mary Jane is survived by a sister, Zella Mills, and her husband, Jim, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Paul Worley, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born in Maries County, Missouri, and then moved with her family to the Lebanon area when she was a small child. She attended school in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1951. She then worked for the H. D. Lee Company for a short time. After she and Jack were married, they made their home near Lebanon and Mary Jane began working as a bookkeeper for the Sherwin-Williams Company. She continued in that position for thirteen years, and was also a devoted homemaker to Jack. Later, she worked at Bennett Spring State Park for a number of years.
Mary Jane made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed doing oil paintings, growing beautiful roses, and making floral arrangements. She also liked going to auctions and flea markets and was especially fond of collecting antique glassware. Her family was very important to her and she was very close to her sister and nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane was a loving sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
