Mary Jo Pierson's Obituary
Mary Jo Vollenweider Pierson, daughter of Donald and Willmetta Kirkpatrick Vollenweider, was born June 15, 1925 in Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, December 20, 2007 in Culpepper Place, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, six months, and five days. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Pierson; a son, Timothy Marc Cantrell; and one brother, Robert Vollenweider. Mary Jo is survived by her daughter, Sandy Cravens and her husband Gary, of Nixa, Missouri; her grandchildren, Kim Johnson and her husband Jeff, of Springfield, Missouri, Chellie Rinne, of Atlanta, Georgia, Janelle Bangs and her husband Dustin, of Springfield, Missouri, Donald Cantrell Thompson, of Nesbitt, Tennessee, Missi Downs and her husband Eddie, of Ava, Missouri, and Crystal Cantrell, of Fordland, Missouri; she is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Sophia, Jacob, Chance, Keeley, and Koby; one niece and one nephew; along with other relatives and many dear friends. Mary Jo was born in Seymour, but lived in Springfield most of her adult life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Mary Jo enjoyed reading, playing cards, sewing and loved spending time with her family and her great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy. Mary Jo was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
