Mary Kay Koenig (Hartville)'s Obituary
Mary “Kay” Kemerling Koenig, 64, of Hartville, Missouri, was born February 18, 1954 to Kenny and Joan (Morgan) Kemerling at Fairfax Missouri and departed this life June 27, 2018, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri
On June 17, 1972 Kay was united in marriage to Phillip DeWayne Koenig, and to this union two children were born.
Kay spent almost 30 years with the US postal service and retired in 2013. Kay was involved with the Athenians and sang with the Sweet Adelines from time to time. She also enjoyed the farm life with DeWayne and her two kids.
Kay enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Kay and DeWayne spent a lot of time traveling together and loved listening to her music. She also enjoyed playing the piano and violin. She was an excellent baker, having won the Betty Crocker award, and just a general good cook. Family was the most important thing in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her step-father, Ralph Logan.
Kay is survived by her husband Phillip DeWayne Koenig of Hartville, Missouri; her son, Chris Koenig and his wife Kelly, of Springfield, Missouri; her daughter Erin Koenig of Mansfield, Missouri; her granddaughter, Gabrielle Koenig of Springfield, Missouri; her brother, Ken Kemerling of Tarkio, Missouri; other relatives, and many caring friends.
Kay was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, sister, and dear friend. We celebrate her wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories she helped create.
Memorial contributions to Breast Cancer Research may be made through the funeral home.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church in Tarkio, Mo.
Burial will follow in the Home Cemetery in Tarkio, Mo.
