Mary Nell Kennedy (Seymour)'s Obituary
Mary Nell Kennedy, daughter of Ira Crockett and Ottolean (Siler) Archer was born September 23, 1929 in Bethel Springs, Tennessee. She departed this life Saturday, September 11, 2010 in her home in Fordland, Missouri at the age of eighty years, eleven months and nineteen days.
On April 27, 1947 she was united in marriage to Nathel “Nate” Kennedy and to this union a son and three daughters were born. Nate preceded her in death on May 30, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn; her parents; a grandson, Aaron Pinson; one sister, Jewell Pierce; and a brother, Raymond Archer.
Mary Nell is survived by her son, Larry Don Kennedy of the home in Fordland, Missouri; two daughters, Carolyn Jones and her husband, Wendel, of Willard, Missouri and Mary Lynn Russell and her husband, Larry Wayne of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Heather Jones, Jason Kennedy, Summer Kennedy, and Jonathan Kennedy; one great-grandson, Wade Miller; three sisters, Amy Ruth Pierce and Ophelia Pierce, both of Springfield, Missouri and Dora Brady, of Reno, Arizona; four brothers, Charles Archer and Carrol Archer, both of Kennett, Missouri, Finnis Larry Archer, of Redding California, and George Archer, of Bragg city, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Her family moved to Southeast Missouri while she was a child and she graduated from New Madrid High School, in New Madrid, Missouri. She moved to Fordland, Missouri eight years ago to make her home following the death of her husband.
Mary Nell had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life and was a faithful servant in the churches she attended. She had served as W.M.U. Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Church Treasurer at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Puxico, Missouri. She had attended Fordland Freewill Baptist and the Seymour First Baptist Churches and at the time of her death she was a member of the Fordland Christ Church.
She took great pride in her home and family and was known for her delicious coconut cakes that she baked for birthdays and other special occasions. She always greeted everyone with a beautiful smile.
Mary Nell was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate and her life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories she has created for all those who knew and loved her.
