Mary Jane Nimmo (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Mary Jane Nimmo, daughter of the late Vanice & Dora (Jeffries) Icenhower, was born on January 8, 1919 in Dallas County, Missouri and departed this life on March 5, 2018 in Hartville, MO. At her time of passing she was 99 years, 1 month and 28 days of age.
Mary was born and raised in Dallas County, MO where she spent a majority of her life until 1988. She went to school in Pleasant Hope where she played basketball and graduated in 1937. She was the last surviving member of her graduating class. Mary and Edgar grew up roughly 5 miles from one another and were later united in marriage on January 20, 1942 and to this union 6 children were born, all whom survive her. Together they raised their family on a dairy farm on the Dallas County/Polk County line where they also raised hogs. She was a member of Mt. Olive Church where she was baptized at a young age. She loved to visit with whomever stopped by, read, travel and watch basketball games. She was always there for and loved her family dearly. Everyone knew her as Granny and she will be truly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar Nimmo; her two brothers, John Icenhower and Shelby Icenhower; and one sister, Monta Icenhower. She is survived by her 6 children, Stanley Nimmo, Paul (Uldine) Nimmo, Sue (Doug) Stidham, Lester (Judy) Nimmo, Millie (Terry) Gates and Katy Hall; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, friends and family who will all truly miss her.
Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Fair Grove, Mo.
